YellowMaker - Set Up Your Own Yellow Pages

Server Requirements


To install the YellowMaker on your web server, you must have the following: -

  • Unix based server - YellowMaker is running on most Unix based servers.
  • Perl 5 - most web servers have Perl installed, but check to make sure before you try installing the YellowMaker. Note that Perl 5 is required; the YellowMaker will not run with Perl 4. Your Perl version must also include the Socket module, which is standard in Perl 5, but which some web host companies forget to install.
  • Sendmail - to utilize e-mail features of the YellowMaker, sendmail must be enabled on your server. In most cases, sendmail is available.
  • FTP Access- you must have the ability to FTP to your web server so that you can upload the YellowMaker files.
  • CGI Access- you must have the ability to run custom CGI scripts on your web server.
  • Ability to change directory/file permissions. Normally, a function called "chmod" is used to perform this task.
